After Week 2

Great news followers! I have continued in my progress at mastering my Globetrotting skills.

This week I continued to practice without any video instruction. Unlike one of my followers, I have found that practicing on my own has benefited me greatly. Through experiment, I have learned just as much as the instructional videos have taught me.

I have continued to practice the two tricks that I did last week, I can also say that I have added a new trick to my repertoire! I don’t believe that there is an official name for this new trick; however it can be easily explained, as I have mentioned it before in previous posts.

This trick is where you roll the basketball along your arms and shoulders behind your head. I struggled in learning this trick last week since I had no instructional videos to learn from. However this week, through much practice, I have found a tactic that helps me with the trick. I have learned to spin the ball in the direction I want it to roll.

I have also made progress toward mastering the other two tricks that I have practiced these past two weeks. In spinning the ball on my finger, I can now keep the ball spinning once I have it on my finger for a short period of time.

Also, with the inner roll, I can now keep the ball rolling multiple times around my arms and chest. In the coming weeks, I will continue to master these tricks. I also plan to add two more tricks to my arsenal of Globetrotting, which I will then unleash in my final product!

Jeremy, I like how you are somewhat trying to mimic the idea of the Harlem Globetrotters. Commenting on your practice strategies, I agree that practice makes perfect and that you will only grow better through much practice. Even though video instruction might teach you something new or unique, you must practice this hard to get a very thorough understanding of the trick, in this case. Adding a new trick to your repertoire every once and a while will be very entertaining, and greatly contribute to the unveiling of your learned skills. I enjoy your idea, good luck, and keep practicing!

I think this project is really cool because you are learning the skills of dribbling by performing different tricks. I also think that the pace you are going at is fantastic as you are not only adding new tricks to your routine, but are also practicing the tricks from the previous week to make sure that you do not lose any practice. The other aspect that appeals to me is the individual learning aspect as you are learning without video instruction. I think individual learning provides some of the best learning advances as you really understand when learning independently, so I commend you on that. I think this is a great project, so good luck with your basketball expedition!

Jeremy, it sounds like you are making a lot of progress, which is always good to hear. I like the fact that you are continuing to practice two tricks that you have already learned; this way, you will continue to go through the motions, thus eliminating the possibility that you will forget how to do them. I do have one suggestion though, which I think will benefit you, especially because you are planning on adding two more tricks to your repertoire. I think that in order to measure your progress, and in order to stay inside the allotted timeframe that you gave yourself to demonstrate these tricks, you should start to time yourself. In basketball, making a move quickly demonstrates a thorough understanding of the trick. As you gain more experience practicing these tricks, you can demonstrate how fast you can now perform them, and you can also ensure that you will stay inside the time limit. Overall though, it sounds like you have made a lot of progress.

Hey Jeremy, So far it seems that you are doing an awesome job learning new tricks and going towards your final goal. Speaking of your final goal, what exactly is it? I know you want to learn many tricks, but do you want to make a video of you doing some of these tricks you are learning, or do you want to perform the tricks live? Another question I have is are you planning to do some of these tricks in actual basketball game? I know it would be difficult to pull off, but you would truly be a young Harlem Globetrotter at that point! Good Luck in learning those tricks and keep up the good work!

Hey Jeremy-
I like what you have so far. It appears that you are on track and have a very strong grip on the current state of your project and how you ultimately want it to turn out like. In addition, I think it would be cool for you too apply these tricks in a basketball game; it would be cool to see how you ultimately apply these skills other than the project itself. Also, how do you plan to put together your routine? Will you compile a bunch of random tricks and just put a time on it and call it a routine? Or are you actually going to replicate that of the Harlem Globetrotters? Anyhow, good job so far... I like where your project is headed.
